…I said I’d post more about my studio process. Truth is, there’s no process right now. I’ve not set foot in the control room for any purpose but to get things off the printer since I posted that last note. Actually, I am recording radio spots for Hearts At Home, but that’s it right now.
And now we have another baby coming! So, I probably won’t be doing much until we get settled with that.

I just got to looking at some of the Google ads that pop up on the studio and have seen a few software packages come up. That got me thinking - if someone is looking for a software package to use for recording - how are they going to know how to use it? Most of these packages aren’t the easiest thing in the world to use - even by professionals. So I’m going to start posting some of my experiences with the software tools I use in the studio.

But first I have to get my day jobs in order…

Clean, clean, clean!

We started a whole house cleansing this last weekend. And, boy, do we have a lot of junk. I feel like we’re unloading about a quarter of our worldy possesions. Those in the Normal area, stop head west on College Ave and look for the Yard Sale on Eastview St. We’re selling a ton of stuff. The rest is going to be donated (to either charity or the local disposal service).

It’s been a very good thing for the studio. It’s become quite a dumping ground for things. But I found it again. Well, at the least the live room. The control room’s a distaster now, but it’s next! The best part is the hallway leading to the studio is presentable again.

I’ll have to take some new pictures when I’m done. We’ve rearranged the furniture, so it looks quite a bit different, now.

I finally got the last page up. The photos of the studio are now available. I’m trying out some javascript tricks I learned a while back for showing the pictures. Nothing fancy, but having one reeeally long page on the old site was annoying. I have to have some new pictures taken of the studio. Most of the pictures I currently have show the studio with now foam in the control room and no trim anywhere - all of which has been finished.

My worst nightmare has been realized as I sit here listening to “chirp, chirp, chirp”. Guess I’ll be finding dead bugs around my basement from now on… Fortunately, they haven’t gotten into the actual studio side of the basement, so the sound proofing is keeping the sound out. But man, that chirp is torture.

…and no sooner had I hit submit on this article, when my cat, Jake, comes barrelling into the studio door after… yep… a cricket. Grrrrr…
